House of Cards Season 3 Episode 3 Discussion and Thoughts

• Franz on the guy shouting at the beginning: "This is this guy's first acting job."
• Very quotable this season "Face of a coward is the back of his head as he runs from battle"
• Franz watched this episode earlier
• "It's going to be weird when Doug dies in this episode.... Does he?" He then proceeded to tilt his head to the side and stare creepily
• He knows I hate spoilers
• Is Claire pregnant? She did a lot of stuff with eggs last episode and was throwing up. That'd be interesting. 

• Eggs=symbolism
• More thoughts from last episode: he said he won't be seeking the democratic nomination, could he run as a Republican or third party?
• Franz thinks the steward in Claire's plane is gay, I assume because of the voice
• I like the soundtrack this season. no specific example this episode, just in general, I like it.
• This Putin guy is a cool actor
• Back in the USSR, seems like a badly placed joke

• Franz claims that after JFK nominated Bobby as Attorney General, a Cabinet position, Congress passed a law saying President's can't nominate immediate family to cabinet level positions. He also claims that UN ambassador is a cabinet level position, so, technically, Claire's nomination might be illegal. 
• Great smile from Frank when Putin-Guy says "you'll be replaced" 
• We both know you'll run 
• I too feel like he will run at some point. So unlike Frank not to run 
• And he seems to care more about himself having power than he/Claire having power, so it seems unlikely that he'd be fine with Claire taking the reigns 
• Oh good hacker guy is back 
• I can't decide if I like him or hate him 
• Franz: "Who uses AT&T? Do you use AT&T? No one uses AT&T." 
• "Since when can't I do two things at once?"
• Definitely a reference to the threesome last season
• "Howdy, and please don't steal the silverware." 
• So Frank
• Claire certainly seems to be getting more of a focus this season, Frank is in the background a little more 
• Oooh Pussy Riot going ham on Putin-Guy
• I like the Russian lady with he crazy accent.
• Claire is being pimped out, wonder if she's happy about that?
• I love the Vice President's toast
• Putin-Guy just wants to get everyone drunk and then screw things up
• "To Petrov and his little pickle," go Claire.

• Franz: "This guy actually looks like Putin.... think that's who they were going for?
• Even more singing, Frank is actually pretty great at blues
• During Frank's song, Franz said "keep our eyes on that one girl in the back." Afterwards, "she's a bitch."
• Awkward Putin-kiss, imagine being in that room
• Claire doesn't think he's to be trusted, way to go out on a limb there, Claire. 
• Oooh he cigar stained the wall in the basement, bad ass
• Some cool cinematography in these episodes too
• Turning on Putin, Franz thinks Frank's plan is to slowly convince the public to ask him to run. 
• Crazy Pussy Riot credits, interesting. 
• A good episode, lots of slow building, still no big bombshell moments... they must be saving it.
