House of Cards Season 3 Episodes 4 and 5 Discussion and Thoughts

- Thoughts on how long the show will last?
- I suspect four, maybe five seasons. I don't think it will end this season. At most Frank will be President for two seasons, but it wouldn't surprise me if he only lasted until the end of this season.
- Franz thinks four. "The British one was three, but this one's a money-maker." So, four seasons.
- Lots of wide shots with the Supreme Court and UN Council thing, this show does that a lot with these official
- Franz theory: the solicitor general lady will replace the retiring Supreme Court justice
- Frank needs a way to keep her from running, it makes sense actually
- He called it.
- Doug is bitchin' with his cane
- The scene in the hallway with Doug and Dunbar is neat
- I suspect Doug is planning to somehow turn on Dunbar, or somehow do something that will help Frank
- Doug is just so loyal, nine months is a lot of time, but is it enough to turn on Frank?
- Franz: "He's not actually working for her."
- This season it's harder to see what the end goal is
- First season it was also somewhat unclear, mostly it was just "revenge on Walker"
- Second season it was very clear that Frank was aiming for the Presidency
- But this season, it's again a bit ambiguous. I like it
- Like the rest of the world (or at least the American world), this season is obsessed with the 2016 election.
- I wonder if the season will run all the way through the election
- Is Frank going to the Church because he's actually questioning is own morals? I mean I assume not but
- This season is the most down we've seen Frank crying, needing floor sex, being unpopular, not getting much done
- He's really in the dumps
- Pissing on graves and spitting on Jesus, Frank doesn't respect anyone anymore
- If he ever did
- Some pretty heavy handed symbolism with Frank breaking Jesus
- Using FEMA to fund AmWorks, I like it
- Frank is going all out, he's getting excited again
- Using FEMA could be dangerous though if there's a big disaster
- It's sad seeing Frank without his console games, he's forced to use his iPad and play Monument Valley
- Come to think of it, it's kind of weird not seeing Claire and Frank in their house anymore
- Ooh, putting Donald in the VP spot makes a lot more sense now, they won't be able to impeach Frank, or at least will be way less likely to do so
- Post-sex family and marriage discussion with Jackie
- "I'm not declaring war on Congress. I'm declaring war on atrophy. But those days, who can tell the difference?"
- More great quotes from Frank
- Claire and Frank are in separate beds, but they still love each other
- Enough to do weird floor sex
- Seeing lots of Iowa in this season (my home state)
- A weird look from that gay guy after that Iowan made a comment with Dunbar, is there something more there? Or am I overthinking
- More evidence that Doug actually is turning on Frank and Claire... interesting
- "Cardiology is good money."
- Very personable there Remey
- Going into the women's bathroom alone with Claire does seem like a bad move
- Awkward watching her pee
- Impressive, I couldn't pee while talking to a guy with the stall door open
- These FEMA people look pissed to be working with these unemployed people
- This author who looks like Bradley Cooper is very non-expressive.
- Lots of Meechum in the background this season, no kinky sex
- Frank doesn't have a great history with
- "At least he's doing something, Walker didn't do shit."
- Somebody finally said it
- "I think we replaced a dud with an atom bomb."
- Frank's really pushing patriotism with his Fourth of July speech
- Freddy's back!
