House of Cards Season 3 Episode 2 Discussion and Thoughts

- Claire showing her skills at the nomination hearing
- Oop, now she's messing up.
- This guy is pretty brutal and she is really pushing back
- Think we'll ever see Walker again?
- I don't know under what context he would come back, but it seems weird to never see him again.
- Oh man they don't want Underwood to run in 2016
- He ain't going to be happy about that
- Epic fourth wall break there
- He's all smiles so far, but I bet he snaps at somebody at some point (vague prediction #1)
- The White House looks really good in this show. My Official White House Expert (my friend Franz), says that it's the best one he's seen on TV
- Claire's neck is a little creepy sometimes
- Like an old smoker with a neck hole, Franz says
- Doug is desperate to get back to work
- No prostitutes or weird drugs this episode, but he seems alone and depressed without Frank
- Francis needs money for his campaign, what if he goes to Tusk?
- Jackie is playing ball now too.
- I think her arc will be her becoming more and more corrupt, eventually turning into Underwood.
- Maybe we'll see that instead of Frank's origin story.
- Francis and Claire going ham on these phones.
- But things aren't going too well
- "A kid who was on Facebook before his testicles descended"
- There are more politics, more Claire and Frank this episode. I'm liking it.
- Oh man is Frank crying?
- A strange moment of weakness/defeat.
- Is there going to be some weird sex again here?
- Are they required to do at least one somewhat odd sex scene per episode?
- Weird floor sex. Very methodical.
- I wonder if Obama ever does this?
- Weird floor sex puts everything in a brighter light.
- Right away, "I have every intention of running for President."
- Those easter eggs got some epic music
- Claire didn't get the nomination, ouch
- Deep thoughts on eggs with Frank Underwood
- Lots of quotable moments with Frank's fourth wall moments
- Is this reporter going to be the new Zoe?
- Francis looks heavier this season. Intentional or not?
- Franz says five pounds heavier at most, "not a lot"
- Of course they know there's a catch with Frank.
- His speech is probably going to come at the end of the episode and be epic and amazing.
- Here's to hoping
- He's going to play these guys so hard, I'm assuming
- He's showing some of his (slightly terrifying) passion here
- Granola cereal with some bourbon
- Here comes the speech, so excited.
- "The truth"
- "The American Dream has failed you."
- Called it, going to be epic.
- "You are entitled to nothing."
- My dad's going to like that line.
- If he's really not running, he must have some huge plan for maintaining some sort of power, right?
- FDR established the thing you're fighting to get rid of here, Frank. Still, citing history, a good speech making technique.
- I was right about the speech being epic, wrong about it ending the episode.
- Doug is so desperate
- "Does he need my help now?"
- Doug is going to make some move at some point (vague prediction #2)
- And more drugs, good Doug, good
- Frank's going for an open and transparent administration with this "we blew a guy's legs off thing"
- He probably won't be turing that transparency on himself anytime soon
- We get Frank crying and singing in one episode
- Claire throwing up... why?
- Franz's answer: "I mean, I don't know... you never know with these people... these people are so fucking weird."
- Liked this episode even more. No time for final thoughts, onto episode three!
