Movie Review: Brave

Disney and Pixar have a sterling reputation (which some say is smeared by Cars 2) for making great movies, and Brave does not destroy this reputation. It isn't the greatest Pixar film ever, Up and WALL-E still hold that title, but it is a very good movie.

The Plot.
The movie follows Merida (Pixar's first female lead) as she tries to change her destiny. She is the daughter of the King of one of the four clans in this magical kingdom, and her mother wants her to be lady like, and wear pretty dresses, marry a prince and all, but Merida just wants to ride horses and shoot arrows.
Just like the classic "It's not my dream, it's yours!" mother-daughter movie, a series of circumstances require the daughter and the mother to come to a new understanding of each other. In this movie, that situation happens to be the mother being magically turned into a bear.
So the bear-mom and the daughter set off to somehow lift the spell that is keeping her mother in bear form, before the mother looses her grip on reality and turns into a bear at heart as well.
There's also an imortal evil bear stalking them, who somehow relates into an old legend/fairytale from the Kingdom's past.

The Review.
This movie is no WALL-E, Up, or Inception, but then again, there is no other movie like any of those.
However, the movie is very good. It has great characters (The three devil brothers bring some great comedy) and the petty feuds between the clan leaders are quite hilarious.
The plot of the movie does seem rushed at many times, but I guess the movie has to be fairly short, for the kid's sake.
Like most Pixar movies, Brave does an excellent job mixing great comedy with an epic adventure, and it makes for a very enjoyable film.
The greatest scenes, at least comedy wise, involve tables being tossed around and things beging torn apart by the mom's incredibly clumsy bear body and the huge King accidentally dragging a table halfway across a room.
And the Irish accents make everything awesome.

The Bottomline.
Kids will love the movie, I mean, come on, arrows and mom's being turned into bears. Sure, kids will like anything animated, but there is also a real plot, and actual comedy for the parents to enjoy as well. And that's what makes this (And all of Pixar's movies) so enjoyable.
