Microsoft's Mystery Event: The Microsoft Surface Tablet

The day has come. Microsoft has finally announced a tablet (after much mystery) It's called the Surface. It has some pretty cool features. Here's a breakdown of the major ones:
  • 10.6 Inch Screen.
  • There will be two versions.
    • One running Intel's 22nm Ivy Bridge chips running Windows 8.
    • Another with an ARM chip running Windows RT. (A mobile-optimized version of Windows)
  • Stats for ARM version:
    • Running Windows RT
    • 1.5 pounds
    • 9.3mm thick
    • 10.6 inch ClearType HD display
    • First PC with vapor-deposited (PVD) magnesium case
Will ship in 32 or 64 GB version
  • Stats for Intel Version
    • Running Windows 8 Pro
    • 1.9 pounds
    • 13.5mm thick
    • 10.6 inch ClearType HD display
    • First PC with vapor-deposited (PVD) magnesium case
    • Built in USB 3.0 ports
    • Digital pen included, which will magnetically attach to the tablet (with digital ink support)
  • Netflix on Windows 8 app was announced
  • Built in kickstand: The back of the tablet folds out and turns into a kickstand. Its actually pretty cool. Check it out in the picture below.
  • Touch Cover: It's much like a smart cover for the iPad, except it has a full touch keyboard built into it. This means you can set it up like the picture below, and use it like a laptop. It's only 3mm thick, which is awesome. A trackpad is also included. Another cool feature: If you attach a blue cover, the background on the screen turns blue. Same for all other colors as well.
  • Type Cover: It's basically the touch cover, with actual keys. A trackpad is also included. Same color changing feature is included with this too. Check it out in pictures below:

Microsoft says suggested retail pricing will be announced closer to availability and is expected to be competitive with a comparable ARM tablet or Intel Ultrabook-class PC.
