'Breaking Bad' Prequel Series 'Better Call Saul' is Official, Coming to AMC

The second greatest show ever is coming to an end in only three short weeks. Let that sink in.
But it's not going to be the end of the world, at least not completely.

AMC announced today that they are moving forward with a spin-off series based around the adventures of Walter White's attorney, Saul Goodman. The show is tentatively titled Better Call Saul, and come on, what else would you call it? The name is just perfect.
The spin-off will take place before the events of Breaking Bad, meaning this isn't a guarantee Saul will make it out of BrBa alive.
The idea for a Saul based spin-off has been floating around for a while, and AMC has now closed the licensing deal it needed with Breaking Bad producer Sony Pictures TV, and the show is expected to get a series order once deals are closed with Odenkirk, Gilligan, and Peter Gould, the writer-producer that co-created the character.

It will be an hour-long show that is expected to focus a bit more on the lighter side of things, instead of the rather dark world of BrBa. This is no surprise given the nature of the Goodman character, but according to Deadline it wasn't necessarily a given that the show would land at AMC. Multiple other networks, including Netflix, were in conversations about the spin-off before AMC closed the deal.

So look forward to more Saul sometime in the vague future. Yippy!
