'Revolution' Could Be the Best Show on TV If It Wasn't So Bad

I had high hopes for Revolution when it was first announced. JJ Abrams' two amazing scifi shows, Lost and Fringe (two of my all time favorites of all time ever) had wrapped up in the last couple years, and the world was looking very sad without the dramatic twists, turns, and emotions of a great Abrams show.
Revolution was going to be my savior. A show about a world where something took all our electricity away, and JJ Abrams. Nothing could be better. Except there was one problem: the show was to be on NBC.

NBC has been getting a bad rap as of late, mostly because they deserve it. They managed to turn a beautiful Abrams production into a popular piece of crap, and have also done some other crappy stuff I'm trying really hard to not rant on right now.

Revolution has an amazing, incredible story that is being told. The last episode's ending reminded me a lot of Lost, which is basically the best thing you can be compared to. But somehow, NBC still makes the show really bad. Most of the actors seem like they aren't all that great, or maybe the characters are badly written.
For sure the dialogue is terribly written. There's been some lines worse than The Following's lowest lows of dialogue, which is pretty low.
Plus, in the world of Revolution, it seems like any character can cross any distance on foot in as little time as they want, without affecting the other characters at all.

There are also several problems with the show that I blame on NBC. Look at that picture above. Why is everyone so clean! You're living in the wilderness basically  and we've seen no signs of any type of bathing going on. Why is that boy's shirt so tight!? How does he keep it wrinkle free?! How did the world fall apart so so quickly. It's been 15 years, and it America is completely destroyed and at least four well established Governments have taken over, each with their own, well established social structure. Why do the two main people have such weird faces? Does she know raising an eyebrow is not the same as acting!?

JJ Abrams looks serious.
Some of those questions could be answered by plot development, but instead we get more eyebrow raisings.

The show seems really cheaply produced, and poorly written. If you can somehow ignore all that, and just absorb the story being told, it is amazing. Near Lost level quality. But Lost also had great actors, amazing writing, a logical sense of time flow, and little to no eyebrow raisings. Oh, and they got DIRTY! They were outside, on an island. Yes NBC, it's okay for your characters to not look like they just got out of a bath house.

So much to my disgust, I will keep watching the show and lining NBC's stupid little pockets, and watch the show. Not because the show is good, but because the story is great. It's just being told in a terrible, terrible way.

Also, JJ Abrams (yes, I know you read Clickege) why don't you use some of your magic movie making power to make the show less sucky? I know you could do it. Please. You wrote basically every episode of Fringe, you could totally do that with Revolution. You're probably busy with Star Wars and Star Trek, but Revolution could be so good if you would just fix it...
