Vizio Reboots the PC

The above video (which is great) reports on Vizio, the TV company, getting into the PC business. I am known for my love of Macs, and hatred of most Windows PCs (Vizio's computers will be running Windows). However, these Vizio computers do interest me for several reasons.
  • They look pretty cool. Yes, they do look quite a bit like Macs, but they have their own distinctive flair.
  • It is running stock Windows. One of the things I hate most about Windows PCs is the amount of crapware and bloatware. These are all the little programs that come on your computer like "Buy HP Supplies!" or "BestBuy 4G" (Which still sits on my dad's laptop, even thought the service no longer exists.) 98% of these programs are terrible, and do nothing but waste space and slow down your computer. Vizio will ship their PCs without any of this crapware, just straight up stock Windows. While I still think that OS X (Apple's version of Windows) is still better and faster, putting Windows with no crap on it at least makes me consider wanting on of these computers.
  • The Trackpad is (apparently) great. One of the things I love most about my Mac is the trackpad. It is just an amazing piece of awesome. Once and a while I try to use my dad's Windows laptop, to try and remind myself of why I hate it. The trackpad is crap. Pure crap. It feels weird on my finger, even painful sometimes, is not responsive, and just sucks. These trackpads have been reported as awesome by The Verge (creators of the above video) and they have been pretty reliable so far on rating product's levels of awesome.
  • People wise, Vizio is a small company. I love small companies. I love Twitter, which is relatively small (around 900 employees.) Vizio only has around 400 employees (and about half are in the call center). It just sees awesome that a company this small could make awesome products. The video above discusses the benefits (and disadvantages) of being a small company.
This is the first PC computer I have been excited for, or even interested in, in a long time, and I like that someone finally seems to be doing Windows right, or at least, as right as you can get with Windows.
